About
Inter 18 operates as a collective. What makes architecture singularly compelling is its dependence on collaboration, the necessity of working in concert with others whose expertise lies outside its traditional boundaries. The built environment is never authored in isolation; it emerges through the convergence of disciplines, each contributing its own form of intelligence. Planning, landscape, engineering and construction technologies—these are not auxiliary supports but co-authors in the making of form, space and atmosphere. Architecture, at its best, is a site of shared authorship.
The unit will host a range of guest lecturers, drawing both from within the school and from across the architecture and construction industries. Students will be encouraged to engage with a broader field of discourse through lectures, debates, film screenings, festivals and presentations in the social sciences—all intended to deepen their understanding of the societies for which we are asked to design.

His professional career and approach bridge his roles as the founder of Arya Safavi Experience (ASX), Associate Director at ZHA—contributing to groundbreaking global projects—and Unit Master at the Architectural Association in London. His work actively explores the intersections of design, research and pedagogy. He received his AA Diploma in 2010 with distinctions in history and theory and technical studies, and his bachelor’s degree with First Class Honours from the University of Westminster in 2007. He joined ZHA in 2014, having concluded four years of practice at Amanda Levete Architects (AL_A).
Nhan Vo
Nhan Vo is a Senior Associate at ZHA and a graduate of the AA, where he currently teaches Intermediate 18. His professional work spans architecture, interiors, furniture and masterplanning across the UK, US, Australia, the Middle East and Asia. His interests lie at the intersection of conceptual thinking, computational design, material experimentation and architectural resolution, with a particular focus on how emerging technologies, fabrication processes and iterative design methodologies can generate new spatial and tectonic possibilities.
