Hongdae, a place for the community of individuality and creativity, faced excessive commercialization and independent communities are being forced out by the corporate businesses. Having an initial goal of creating a high-rise that accommodates scattered communities at the very center of Hongdae, most of the interior spaces will be left empty, avoiding being designed to direct a specific program and to adapt to individuals’ creativity so the tenants and visitors can build a community with their own will. To achieve the goal, Hongdae’s urban fabric will be interpreted and the experience of wandering on the streets of Hongdae will be applied in vertical circulation.
