The pandemic has brought forth the role and significance of public space, in particular collective spaces of experience, namely Art. Cultural institutions and spaces for expression and creation enhance social interaction and participation, contributing not only to general well-being, strengthening social fabric, and sense of community but to economic revitalisation.
My project aims to inject flexible, adaptive, and responsive spaces for Arts as civil and social infrastructure within the Leadenhall building in the heart of the city of London by embedding a flexible system of Loose Joints and Surfaces interacting with, partly supported by, and connected to the existing structure, and vertical circulation of the existing building. In parallel, the project aims to provide multi-level Cross-sectional circulation improving access amongst the disconnected existing floors without the dependency solely on the vertical lifts of the north core.
My intervention is cross-sectional interactive and performance spaces occupied by office and performative art activities. The intervention elicits Mutual symbiosis such as co-working, co-creative, and co-performative on the basis of no-threshold space composed of transitions by choreography. My loose joint hybrid system will enable this by introducing flexible circulation and enclosure.
