“The Cloud of King’s Cross” consists of the reorganisation of vehicle and pedestrian flows in the vicinity of King’s Cross station in London, the construction of a new bus terminal and charging station for the next generation of electric buses, located in a strategic area above the existing station, and the definition of a plan to convert waste heat from the underground into clean electricity that can be used to charge buses.
The common thread in this broad action programme will be the hybryd system. Through the use of laser cutting machines, two plastic sheets can be welded together to create different patterns. This pattern, once the system is inflated, becomes a generator of shapes and spaces. This technique is applied on a larger scale in my proposal for kings cross. A construction system that allows the creation of light and flexible spaces that can be adapted to the many constraints of the context.
