Exploring potential architectural features within wax-water formations and setting up a digital form-finding workflow which is implemented and tested in the redesign of the Charing Cross Station.
The wax-water formations were made by pouring water into the melted wax. The density and temperature differences between the two materials will create sophisticated formations with unique light qualities. Controlled experiments were carried out to analyse further and understand the process’s behaviour.
The unique light quality was used to improve the lighting condition of the brick vault area under the station’s platform.
