STATEMENT
The Royal Academy of arts is a private Institution led by artists and architects. Apart from donations, RA primarily sustains itself by earning money through consumption activities such as exhibitions, catering, shopping, venue rentals within the physical consumption spaces provided by RA Buildings.
The summer exhibition is the most profitable consumption event in RA. It is a 2-month annual exhibition of modern art. Now, the exhibition space provided by the original ballroom can no longer offer a more suitable and sufficient space for this event. This means that RA is being forced to give up more profits by not fully utilising the commercial value of the summer exhibition.
I tried to position myself as an agent employed by the RA to updating and expand the exhibition space by inserting a series of decorative and structural columnar frame spaces created by my hybrid system, in order to recoup all the income that the summer exhibition truly deserved.
