In recent years there is significant data indicating the audience base of jazz venue attendents are quickly shifting to an aging population. A 2011 survey revealed that nearly 50% of jazz audiences were over 65 years old. This solidified audience demographic, combined with declining participation from younger generations, poses a challenge for UK jazz venues that heavily depend on ticket sales for revenue. Research highlights that these venues suffer from limited publicity and disconnection from modern nightlife culture. This project aims to connect jazz venues with contemporary lifestyles, broadening their appeal to diverse audiences and music genres while preserving jazz’s unique complexity.
