The project focuses on rock music and examines the relationship between the stage and the audience, exploring how intimacy and a sense of collective experience can be achieved through spatial proximity.
London has been home to many legendary venues where some of the most significant rock performances and cultural moments took place. These spaces were defined by their intimate atmosphere and the shared sense of freedom, unity, and awakening they fostered. Over time, however, many of these venues have undergone major changes, resulting in the loss of that close connection between performers and audience. The aim is to bring back the experience that once defined the genre by creating an accessible live music space focused on intimacy and experience.
After analyzing several case studies on stage-audience relationship, the project explores different methods for achieving intimacy and uses these findings to inform the design process.
The project introduces a Hybrid System, which explores creation a 3D object from a flat surface, modular connections, and dynamics created through rotational movement.
The proposal aims to transform the site into a flexible, performative venue with adaptable auditoriums, flexible capacity, and reconfigurable stage layouts—allowing for diverse atmospheres and audience experiences.
