The project explores architecture as an optical
device through which knowledge is perceived,
highlighting the role of vision and light in shaping
spatial experience. Observing the British
Library reveals a contrast between publicly
accessible spaces and the hidden reading
rooms and archives where knowledge production
takes place. The proposal introduces controlled
visual exposure by extending reading
spaces into the atrium and channeling light
deep underground through a glass column
and network of light channels, transforming
concealed areas into an open public realm for
exploration and collective engagement.
